The frozen blueberries in my freezer were calling to me today as I made my Day 5 drink. I am in desperate need to go back to my local CSA and pick up some more greens. I have been out of Kale for a few days and I am getting low on all of my produce. This is a great day because this can prove that you can make a drink out of whatever you have in your kitchen at the time.
I am still amazed at my level of energy considering the overload I am under while my husband is on vacation. Two business’, kids, house, prepping for Christmas etc. It is enough to drive you to drink…drink a great healthy nutritious smoothie in just minutes. I do believe that if I were not incorporating this extra punch of whole food goodness into my body, I would be drained, stressed and just plain grouchy. I am half way to my destination (10 days of one green drink a day) and it has been smooth flying so far. I am loving the journey.
Bev #5
- 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 large carrot chopped
- 1 celery stalk chopped
- Handful spinach
- Handful pea shoots
- Handful sunflower sprouts
- Few mint leaves
- Splash of aloe vera
- Coconut water
Ok, I realize that a few of the items in my drink are unique and may not live in the average household. So, tomorrow I am deliberately going to purchase what I feel most people may have on hand in their kitchen and reproduce a beautiful beverage.
Note: When adding the greens to your blender, make sure you are tightly packing it to create the handful or cup or whatever your measurement may be. It takes quite a few leaves to create a serving so make sure you aren’t just adding a few leaves.
Note 2: I put a splash of aloe vera in my drinks because I prefer it, but this is optional. Tomorrow I will omit this as well to keep the drink similar to an average home.
