Many years after obtaining my B.A. from Colorado Mesa University, I enrolled in an aromatherapy correspondence course from the Kal Kotecha Academy of Aromatherapy and Massage. I studied the history of aromatherapy, general anatomy and physiology, numerous essential oil families (including their chemical properties, extraction methods, usages, application properties and precautions), toxicity, physical and verbal assessments and current information relating to the use of essential oils and plant extracts for health and well-being.
I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.
During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
I am currently enrolled in The Science & Art of Herbalism with Rosemary Gladstar. She is a world known Master Herbalist. I have been studying for four years but know this is a life long dedication. To put my knowledge into practice, I work at a local apothecary, Homsted. My bosses are Master Clinical Herbalists, John & Chrissy Lee.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, preventive health, essential oils and herbalism. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
